Shoko Shida was born in Shizuoka,
Japan, and graduated from Tokyo University of Arts and Music. She was a lecturer at the Aichi Prefectural University of Arts and Music in Nagoya and at the Ferris University of Music in Yokohama.
Thereafter, Shoko Shida was Professor at the Chinese Cultural College of Arts and Music and at the Hwa Gang Music School in Taipei, Taiwan.
Since 1980 , she lives and works as a
freelance composer in Cologne, Germany. Her works were performed at several Music Festivals in Europe such as in Witten, Darmstadt, Koeln, Rome, Boswil, Linz, Leipzig, etc. Some also in the U.S.A., Japan, Hong Kong, and Taipei.
She wrote many pieces for theatre and dance music, in cooperation with Koeln Tanz Forum.
Currently, Shoko Shida is working on
music with minimal and symbolic movements as deliberate and additional expressions.
